Starz Stocks Up on Movie Titles

ENGLEWOOD, November 4: Starz Entertainment has acquired a raft of
titles for its portfolio of premium pay-TV movie channels, including first-run
and library features from Lionsgate, IFC and others.

For its slate of 16 channels, Starz On Demand and Starz Play offerings,
Starz has acquired properties from Summit, Lionsgate, Hallmark, IFC, the Samuel
Goldwyn Company, First Look and Fremantle. The acquisitions include P2, a horror thriller from Summit
starring Wes Bentley and Rachel Nichols; Goya's
Ghost
from the Samuel Goldwyn Company with Javier Bardem; and IFC's After the Wedding, Finishing the Game: The Search for a New Bruce Lee, Goodtime Max and Puff Ball. Highlights of the library fare include 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, By Dawn's Early Light, Call of the Wild, Bye Bye Birdie, Hound of the
Baskervilles
and Rear Window from
Hallmark.

"Movies have always been the bread and butter of our
company," said Nancy Silverstone, the VP of program acquisitions for
Starz. "These deals reinforce our position as the movie leader in
television and helps fill our content pipeline for years to come. It's also an
indication of our appetite for all types of movies—for new, old, indie
and mainstream."
