SPTI Launches New Game Show Formats at MIPTV

LONDON, April 13: Sony
Pictures Television International (SPTI) will launch two new game show formats
at MIPTV this month: Grand Slam, which is currently being produced by Embassy Row for GSN in
the U.S., and One Year Free.

Created by
Monkey Kingdom, the quiz show Grand Slam originally aired in the U.K. on Channel 4 in 2003. It has
since been broadcast on Cuatro in Spain and is currently being produced by
Embassy Row for GSN (Game Show Network) in the U.S. The format sets previous game show winners from
shows such as Who Wants to be A Millionaire and 15 to 1 against each other, as they bet their
own money for a chance at a large, final cash prize.

One Year Free has already aired for six successful seasons on Eén/VRT in Belgium, and
will return to the channel for a seventh season this November. In the show, 16
contestants use their gut feeling and their knowledge of their opponents to
decide whom they should back in order to win the most points and ultimately,
live for free for a year.

Alex
Elliot, SPTI’s executive director of non-scripted formats, said: “SPTI is
delighted to bring Grand Slam and One Year Free to MIPTV this year. Grand
Slam

has already proved itself in both the U.K. and Spain and will soon be seen on
air in the US. One Year Free has been a huge hit on Eén/VRT in Belgium, with an
Italian version currently in development. Both formats have great appeal.”
