Sony Reports Full Year, Q4 Results

TOKYO, May 16: Sony Corporation has reported a full-year
profit of $1.1 billion, a 2.2 percent gain on the previous year, but has
recorded a $573 million net loss for the fourth quarter.

For the fiscal year that ended March 31, 2007, Sony
Corporation’s revenues rose 10.5 percent to $70.3 billion, while for the
quarter they were up 12.6 percent to $17.7 billion.

For the year, the electronics segment posted a 16.9 percent
increase in revenues to $51.3 billion, while operating income soared to $1.3
billion. In the gaming division, revenues were up 6.1 percent to $8.6 billion,
but the segment recorded a loss of $2 billion. At Sony Pictures, revenues for
the year grew 29.5 percent to $8.2 billion, delivering an operating income of
$362 million, a 55.7 percent increase.

Sony Corporation also announced its fiscal 2008 forecast,
anticipating revenues of $72.7 billion and a net income of $2.65 billion,
driven by the box-office success of Spider-Man 3.
