NEW YORK: Of all the new programs that launched globally in August, AMC's Fear the Walking Dead stirred up the most buzz in social media, with some 301,000 tweets, according to The WIT.

The spin-off of The Walking Dead is set in Los Angeles and takes viewers back to the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. There was much #Excitement on Twitter and Facebook regarding the broadcast, which many commenters thought was #AboveExpectations and #Thrilling but may have had #TooManyAdBreaks.

Number two on the list of the top ten most-buzzed-about new shows in social media last month is Xuxa Meneghel. The entertainment show, which aired on Rede Record in Brazil, is hosted by former TV Globo host Xuxa Meneghel and features games, performances and interviews with celebrities. There were some 283,000 tweets about the premiere, with #Applause coming from its #Fanbase and some commenting that the host and vibe of the show was #LikeEllenDeGeneres.

The romantic comedy On the Wings of Love debuted on ABS-CBN in the Philippines, delivering around 164,000 tweets in social media. The series is about two Filipinos who move to the U.S. and agree to an arranged marriage so that each can help their family back home. The #MuchAnticipated show had social media talking about the #StarCinemaCouple in this #FreshRomCom.

From Caracol in Colombia, Taggeados is a partly scripted entertainment show that spotlights three young vloggers (who have 2 million Twitter followers between them) as tech-savvy teens in a modern and dysfunctional family. Approximately 148,000 tweets went out about the #Addictive show, noting the #TeenCraze for the #YouTubers.

Number five on this list is Worst.Post.Ever: With Frankie Grande, a special that aired on Oxygen in the U.S. The one-off saw YouTuber Frankie Grande break down the most talked-about online posts, tweets and selfies from Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. With around 100,000 tweets, social media was buzzing about the #FunnyContent and #GreatHost who is among the #YouTubers.

The TV Globo novela A regra do jogo generated approximately 96,000 Facebook and Twitter comments with its debut. The telenovela is about a man from a rich family who shows up to occupy a political position and falls in love with another woman despite the fact that he's married. Comments on social media were about the #GreatCast of this #FastPaced and #Innovative series.

Marimar is a new local adaptation from GMA Network in the Philippines of the Mexican telenovela about the complicated love story between Marimar, a poor young woman, and Sergio, son of a rich family. The series' debut drew around 71,000 tweets, with #Excitement about the #WellKnownFormat and talk that it was a #Success.

Another format, Pequenos Gigantes, made the list. The Portuguese adaptation of the talent show, which premiered on TVI, sees teams of children aged 4 to 12 who were shortlisted in casting calls held nationwide compete against each other in singing, dancing and acting gigs. Around 49,000 social media comments were made about the #Entertaining debut episode and the #ImpressiveKids with #GreatTalent.

Adal, el show debuted on Canal de las Estrellas in Mexico, delivering some 42,000 tweets alongside the broadcast. The entertainment/variety show is hosted by star comedian Adal Ramones, and features stand-up comedy, sketches, challenges, music acts, interviews and more. The #FanBase was tweeting about the #MuchAwaitedComeback and how it was #Hilarious and #Entertaining.

Capping off the list at number ten is Todrick from MTV in the U.S. It is a docuseries following vocalist, actor, director, choreographer and YouTube star Todrick Hall and his passionate troupe of creative collaborators, who pour their heart and soul into weekly YouTube videos. There were around 36,000 tweets about the #StarYouTuber and the #TalentedCrew, which made for #FunEntertainment.
