Sky One to Develop FOX Game Show for the U.K.

LONDON, April 12: In a format deal with Reveille
International, Sky One has secured the rights to develop a version of Mark Burnett Productions’ hit FOX
game show Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? under the title Are You Smarter Than a
10-Year-Old?
for rollout in the U.K. this
fall.

Sky One is currently in discussions with various British
companies to produce 20 one-hour episodes of the series, to be filmed in
high-definition, for broadcast in prime time, and a further 50 one-hour
episodes to air in daytime slots. The broadcaster has also begun a search for a presenter to front the
show, and will also begin a nationwide search to cast the five children who
will form the series’ classmates.

In the U.S. Are
You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?
launched with 26.6 million viewers and an 11.2 rating and 27 percent
audience share. The U.S. series is produced by Mark Burnett Productions in
association with Zoo TV. Reveille International is distributing the format
internationally, with sales already confirmed in Australia and Brazil.

Richard Woolfe, the
director of programming at Sky One, Two and Three, commented: "Are you
Smarter
… has become nothing
short of a phenomenon since debuting in the U.S. in February to over 26 million
viewers and we're thrilled to be bringing it to a new audience in the U.K.
What's not to love about 10-year-olds gaining the intellectual high ground over
nervous adults, fearing humiliation in front of a live studio audience? It's
the perfect, twisted quiz show for Sky One.”
