SKY Italia Scoops Up 2014, 2016 Olympics

LAUSANNE, October 21: SKY
Italia has extended its hold on the Olympics, scoring the rights to the 2014
and 2016 games, after securing the 2010 and 2012 rights from the International
Olympic Committee (IOC) earlier this year.

SKY Italia acquired the
rights across all broadcast platforms, including free-to-air television,
subscription television, Internet and mobile. The pay-TV platform is
responsible for ensuring the broadest possible reach for the games, including
guaranteed coverage on free TV.

Andrea Zappia, the head of
SKY Italia sport and VP of SKY Italia, said: “We are honored that the IOC has
chosen SKY Italia as its partner also for the 2014 and 2016 Olympic Games. As
for the Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 Olympic Games, we will guarantee our
subscribers unprecedented coverage, offering live broadcasting of all the
events with Italian athletes, as well as the opportunity to watch all events.
Our passion for sports is best expressed at the Olympic Games, and we are proud
to know that we will be following the next four editions.”
