Skunk Fu Launches in the U.K.

LONDON, July 9: Cake Entertainment’s Skunk Fu! has launched on BBC One in a weekday slot, with
rollout in France and Germany slated for this winter.

The first 26 episodes of the
series have been given a 3:45/3:50 p.m. weekday slot on BBC One from today, as
well as a 6 p.m. slot on Saturdays on CBBC from July 14. France 5 and Super RTL
are slated to begin airing the show this winter.

“When I shook hands with Paul
Young and Aidan Harte at Cartoon Saloon to co-produce this Skunk Fu!together, we could only
hope to see this day,” said Tom van Waveren, a partner at Cake Entertainment.
“And while all the feedback and research along the way have been very promising,
the eating of the proverbial pudding remains the ultimate moment of truth! We
are, however, very confident that the audience will have as much fun watching Skunk
Fu!
as we have
had while making it.”

Genevieve Dexter, also a partner
at the company, added: “The project has retained the freshness in look and
perspective that drew me to it when it was first presented. And whereas CBBC
was the second broadcaster committed to the series, we are still signing up new
partners today. As recently as last week, we received confirmation of an offer
for the U.S. broadcast rights being forthcoming.”

The 52×12-minute show is a Cartoon
Saloon, Telegael and Hoek, Line & Thinker Productions co-production for TG4
(Ireland) and Super RTL. Targeting kids aged 6 to 12, Skunk Fu! is a comedy action adventure animated cartoon for kids
6-to-12. Skunk is a western kid learning Kung Fu from a wise old Panda in
China, so that he can help the resistance fight against the evil Black Dragon
and his army of Ninja Monkeys.
