DHAKA/NEW YORK: Sisimpur, Bangladesh’s original adaptation of Sesame Street, heads into its sixth season, co-produced by Sesame Workshop and Nayantara Communications.

The show’s sixth installment will focus on the increasing positive attitudes towards nature, helping to boost children’s knowledge about the natural world and encourage behavior that demonstrates respect and care for the environment. “Research shows that introducing young children to the natural world is the first step towards helping them develop a caring attitude towards the environment,” said psychologist Dr. Mehtab Khanam, a director of education and research. “Environmental education for preschoolers, through the lens of exploration, provides children with the opportunity to feel a part of nature as they discover and make connections about the natural world around them.”

Sisimpur’s new season continues to feature multiple formats, including studio segments, animations and live-action films. The new cycle will also feature live actions directed by local teens from rural areas, highlighting the culture of indigenous people from Shreemongol and Durgapur as well as coastal areas. Additional highlights include spoofs on local reality shows Dhoom ta na, the Bengali version of So You Think You Can Dance, and the game show Ebar Jombe Khela. Sisimpur’s sixth season is slated to premiere this summer on Bangladesh Television (BTV).
