Singapore’s Theatre Red Secures Partners for New Kids’ Sci-Fi Series

SINGAPORE, October 18: Singapore’s
Theatre Red has announced that production, investment and broadcast partners
from Singapore, Canada and Australia have come on board for its new kids’
sci-fi live-action series Stormworld.

Along with Theatre Red,
Vancouver-based Brightlight Pictures will co-produce the live-action
26×30-minute series with Great Western under GWE’s WiKKiD.tv brand. Stormworld was created by British writer John Goldsmith and
Paul Barron. The Canadian co-producers are Stephen Hegyes and Shawn Williamson
of Brightlight Pictures with Ian Hogg of TheatreRed as co-executive producer.
The series will be directed by BAFTA award-winning director Mark DeFriest and
Edward McQueen-Mason. The series is scheduled to enter principal photography in
January 2008 and will be delivered in early 2009. Principal photography will
take place in Perth, Singapore, Vancouver and the Kimberley coast in Northwest
Australia.

The worldwide distribution
of Stormworld will be handled
by Monaco-based Daro Film Distribution. Daro has already confirmed pre-sales of
the series to Ireland, Romania and Hungary. Stormworld is expected to launch at MIPTV in April 2009.
