ShineReveille Adds Third-Party Fare

LOS ANGELES: ShineReveille International has signed a distribution deal for Love Productions’ new factual series Boys and Girls Alone, marking its first-ever, third-party agreement in the U.K.

The documentary series watches as ten boys and ten girls between the ages of 8 and 12 get to live in their own separate villages. ShineReveille will sell both the format and finished tape for Boys and Girls Alone, which is slated to debut on Channel 4 on February 3.

"Love Productions is delighted to be ShineReveille International’s first third-party production partner in the U.K.," said Andrew Brann, the managing director of Love. "Boys and Girls Alone explores a number of universal themes: how much freedom should we allow our children? What are the real differences between boys and girls? What can we learn from children that we have lost? These are themes that will appeal to audiences around the world."

The show is the latest addition to the company’s distribution slate, which also includes the Nigel Lythgoe and Simon Fuller competition series Superstars of Dance. Also on offer from ShineReveille for NATPE are Around the World for Free, an interactive series that follows a traveler who will traverse four continents and 45,000 miles without spending a dime; Bingo, combining classic elements of trivia-based game shows with traditional game play; and Conviction, which watches as five murderers come to terms with their past.

"Since its creation early last year, ShineReveille International has built a solid slate of U.K. programming with the Shine Group catalogue of shows," said Chris Grant, the president of ShineReveille International. "Our goal is to mirror the success we’ve had with third-party producers in the U.S, and we believe our new partnership with Love is testament to our growing presence and strength in this market."

In further news, ShineReveille has promoted two executives. Brad Jorgensen, the director of operations, has been named VP, and Kate Ward, who previously served as a manager, has been upped to director of international distribution and creative affairs. Jorgensen will be based in the Los Angeles office and Ward in the London office.
