Series Mania Signs New Charter for Equality & Diversity

As part of the Series Mania Forum, General Director Laurence Herszberg held a signing for the 5050×2020 charter, which aims to ensure equality and diversity in cinema, audiovisual and animation festivals.

Since Cannes Film Festival 2018, the Collectif 5050 has suggested a commitment to the festivals that would encourage the following goals: apply salary equality, give gender to statistic tools, encourage equal participation between men and women as decision-making authorities, and stimulate creation that undermines the traditional representations.

The Collectif 5050×2020 suggests to Series Mania an involvement around giving gender to the regular statistics, including the number of series submitted to the selection committee in order to give precise figures; providing transparency about the committee selection members and programming directors to avoid any suspicion of lack of diversity and equality while still allowing festivals to fully apply their editorial and strategic choices; and, to reach equality, signing up for a transformation calendar of the festival’s governing management.
