TORONTO, July 20: More than 400 international broadcasters,
producers and distributors from 20-plus countries are expected to attend the
World Congress of Science and Factual Producers’ (WCSFP) 15th annual
conference in New York City, November 26-29.

Last year’s edition in Manchester saw record-breaking attendance
with 80 percent of delegates reporting advancement of their projects.
Broadcasters at the 2006 conference included ARTE, BBC, CBC, Channel 4, Five,
Discovery Channel U.S., Discovery Channel Canada, Discovery Science, France 5,
National Geographic Channels International, NDR, NHK, ABC TV, WGBH and
Thirteen/WNET.

This year, Thirteen/WNET New York, the largest locally
owned-and-operated television station of the U.S. Public Broadcasting Service,
will serve as host broadcaster.

“The World Congress of Science and Factual Producers is such
a revitalizing event for industry professionals, and the heart of New York City
in November is the perfect spot for such a lively gathering,” said Jared
Lipworth, the director of science programs at Thirteen/WNET New York and member
of the WCSFP Steering Committee.

Features of this year’s program include more than workshops,
networking events, pitch sessions and panels that will reveal emerging content
trends and highlight important industry issues. This year will also see the
return of popular services including commissioning editor lunches, an on-demand
video library of delegates’ productions, as well as evening networking events
and social activities which take advantage of Manhattan’s renowned nightlife
scene.
