SCI FI UK to Air More Dollhouse

LONDON: NBC Universal Global Networks has picked up the first-run pay-TV rights for the second season of Dollhouse for SCI FI Channel in the U.K.

The first season of the Joss Whedon drama ran to 12 episodes in the U.S. on FOX, with a 13th episode reserved exclusively for the upcoming U.S. DVD release this month. In the U.K., this bonus episode will serve as the season finale for season one, scheduled to premiere on SCI FI on August 11.

Dollhouse will return to FOX on Fridays at 9 p.m. this fall.

“We’re thrilled to offer our audience not only all thirteen episodes of the first season but also confirmation that SCI FI has the season two premiere already lined up for later in the year,” commented Jon Farrar, the programming director for NBC Universal Global Networks in the U.K. “Dollhouse has become a cult hit in the U.K. and is one of the most talked about and successful show launches of 2009. We’ve been relentless in our quest to bring the most entertaining, exciting and in-demand programming to our viewers and Dollhouse has ticked all those boxes and many more.”

Fox Entertainment’s president, Kevin Reilly, said, “We still believe in Friday. When people are home, they want something interesting to watch.”
