SCI FI Preps Anime Block

NEW YORK, May 8: On June 11, SCI FI in the U.S. is launching
Ani-Monday, a weekly block featuring
content from Starz Media’s anime distribution arm, Manga Entertainment.

The block, airing Mondays from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., marks the
NBC Universal-owned channel’s first foray into original late-night programming.
"SCI FI's Ani-Monday is more than a
programming block, it represents a lifestyle," said Dave Howe, the
executive VP and general manager of SCI FI Channel. "It speaks to the
young, tech-savvy, video game playing consumer and it is quickly becoming a
mainstream phenomenon. SCI FI has the unique opportunity to own the anime
category."

Ani-Monday will
feature the exclusive premiere of Ghost in the Shell: Solid State
Society
, as well as feature films like Ninja
Scroll
, Blood, The Last Vampire, Read or Die and Blackjack. The anime
block will also be home to premieres of new genre series such as Tokko, Noein
and classic series such as Street Fighter II V.
