Sagafilm Appoints New Head of Sales & Partnerships

Sagafilm has appointed Pálmi Guðmundsson as head of sales and partnerships.

“Sagafilm has a long history of creative excellence and production strength,” said Guðmundsson. “I’m excited to join the team at a time when international collaboration and strategic partnerships are more important than ever. Iceland has become a globally recognized production hub and we see significant opportunities to further expand Skybound and Sagafilm’s footprints across content and distribution platforms.”

In his new role, Guðmundsson will lead: International and domestic sales strategy, strategic partnerships and co-production alliances, revenue development across film, television and digital formats, expansion of Iceland-based service production and executive support in business development and global market positioning.

Guðmundsson has over 22 years of experience in the media industry. He previously served as director of programming at Sjónvarp Símans for nearly a decade. Earlier in his career, he was managing director of programming and marketing at 365 Media and marketing director of the Icelandic Broadcasting Company.

“This appointment reflects Sagafilm’s commitment to pairing creative excellence with strong commercial leadership to secure sustainable growth and a diverse slate of content in an increasingly competitive global market,” said Skarphéðinn Guðmundsson, CEO of Sagafilm. “Pálmi brings extensive expertise from both broadcasting and production, with a proven ability to build compelling business and market strategies for innovative content.”
