Reuter’s Williams Heads to BBC

LONDON, November 21: Ed
Williams, the director of corporate affairs at Reuters, has been named the head
of corporate communications at the BBC.

Williams succeeds Sally
Osman, who left the BBC in September to pursue other interests. He takes up his
new post in the first quarter of 2008, reporting to Tim Davie, the director of
marketing, communications and audiences.

In his new role, Williams
will have overall responsibility for the development and implementation of the
BBC's communications strategy. He will lead the BBC press office, corporate and
parliamentary affairs and a web publishing operation, and will work directly
with the BBC director-general and the executive board.

Prior to his current role
as director of corporate affairs at Reuters, he worked as the director of
corporate communications for 3, Hutchinson Whampoa's telecoms business in the
U.K.
