Report: Disney Seeks Buyer for Miramax

LOS ANGELES: The Walt Disney Company is said to be looking for a buyer for the Miramax name and 700-title film library at a price of more than $700 million, according to reports.

Seven to ten outfits have expressed interest in Miramax, which was founded by Harvey and Bob Weinstein in 1979 and sold to Disney in 1993. Disney shuttered the once all-powerful art-house label last month. Interested bidders reportedly include Summit Entertainment, the outfit behind the Twilight films. The Miramax library includes hits like Pulp FictionChicago, Kill Bill and The Queen. The Weinstein brothers have not yet made an offer for their former company, according to reports.
