Record Attendance for DISCOP

BUDAPEST, June 23: DISCOP
opened with almost 1,500 participants in Budapest yesterday, boosted by almost
175 last-minute buyers registering at the Sofitel Atrium Hotel.

“This year’s market is
very different than before, first because we had never had this many
participants,” said Patrick Jucaud, the general manager of DISCOP. “Second, we
now have a whole spectrum of companies, from DVD distributors to thematic
channels and major broadcasters that had never come before. And third, because
there are around 850 buyers, many of which just came out of the blue and
registered today.”

This year’s DISCOP program
includes a series of conferences entitled Think Outside The Box, as well as the
screening of the documentary Freedom’s Fury. The Telenovela Gala Evening takes place tonight,
in association with World Screen, with sponsors Dori Media and Zone Romantica.

DISCOP, now in its 15th
year, was acquired by NATPE at the beginning of this year.
