qubo Scores New Animated Properties

NEW YORK, October 10: The multiplatform kids’ service qubo
has picked up three new animated series for its grid: Maisy from NBC Universal and two shows from PorchLight
Entertainment.

Based on the award-winning books by the British author Lucy
Cousins, the 26-episode Maisy follows
the adventures of a lovable mouse with a nose for adventure. “Maisy has a huge following among young viewers and we are
thrilled that is has found a home on qubo Channel, “ said Rick Rodriguez, the
president and general manager of qubo. “This is a perfect addition to our
preschool lineup and a wonderful way to continue our productive relationship
with NBC Universal.”

From PorchLight, a first-time supplier to qubo, are Adventures
from the Book of Virtues
and
Gofrette,
both of which launch in November.
“We are delighted to enter into our first deal with PorchLight Entertainment in
bringing this wonderful content to qubo viewers,” said Rodriguez. “Adventures
from the Book of Virtues
is a great fit for
qubo and is compatible with several other qubo series, such as VeggieTales and 3-2-1 Penguins! that promote prosocial values. Gofrette is a wonderful complement to qubo’s preschool
offerings and will engage young viewers in its colorful, quirky world.”

qubo is broadcast in both English and Spanish and is
available in all markets served by an ION Television station, as well as via
Verizon’s FIOS TV, AT&T’s U-Verse, Mediacom, RCN and Comcast. In addition
to the qubo Channel, qubo programming is available Wednesday to Friday
afternoons on ION TV, Saturday mornings on NBC and weekend mornings in Spanish
on Telemundo. It was formed by Scholastic, ION Media Networks, NBC Universal,
Corus Entertainment and Big Idea.
