Prominent Historian Howard Zinn Passes Away

SANTA MONICA: Howard Zinn, the historian whose A People’s History of the United States was the basis for HISTORY’s recent special The People Speak, has passed away at the age of 87.

The People Speak, executive produced by Chris Moore, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin, among others, and distributed globally by AETN International, aired on HISTORY in the U.S. in December. It was based on Zinn’s controversial work A People’s History of the United States and Voices of a People’s History of the United States and featured narration by the noted historian. According to wire reports, Zinn suffered a heart attack while traveling in Santa Monica.
