NEW YORK: The producers of Project Runway are launching a new competition series, Project Runway: Threads, which features teen and tween fashion designers.

Each week, Project Runway: Threads will see three new contestants, ages 10 to 16, competing to see who can out-design the competition. They are competing for $10,000 to be used at any Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts store or Joann.com, a scholarship to a summer program at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, and a sewing and embroidery studio courtesy of Brother International Corporation.

The show launches October 23 on Lifetime in the U.S. Starting the following week, it will move to a regular Thursday time slot. Hosted by Vanessa Simmons (Run’s House), Project Runway: Threads will feature judges designer and CFDA member Christian Siriano (Project Runway season four winner), Seventeen Fashion Director Gina Kelly and Accessories Editor Jasmine Snow, and YouTube style guru Ingrid Nilsen (2.5 million YouTube subscribers). The premiere episode features special guests television personality Kelly Osbourne and actress and model Jaime King. Actress, singer and dancer Zendaya will also make a guest appearance this season.

Project Runway: Threads hails from The Weinstein Company, Full Picture and Sara Rea Productions.
