Preschool Series in the Works from Amberwood, Galaxy Pop

MELBOURNE/OTTAWA, January 16: Australia’s Galaxy Pop and Canada’s Amberwood Enterainment have signed a co-production deal for the animated preschool series The Sunshine Friends.

The 52×11-minute 2-D series, created by Galaxy Pop producers Dina McPherson and Gian Christian, follows the adventure of five friends from around the globe who join Grandma Sunshine in her enchanted treehouse, where they are magically transported back in time to visit her past memories from her days as an intrepid world explorer. Galaxy Pop and Amberwood are looking to secure presales and financing for the production.

"The Sunshine Friends is a warm-hearted series with a good dose of quirky humor," said co-creator, writer and composer Dina McPherson. "We wanted to produce a soundtrack that was full and warm, so we brought inAustralian Idol‘s John Foreman to direct the 30-piece orchestra."

Chantal Ling, the executive VP of Amberwood Entertainment, said, "What excites us about the series is the unique idea of visiting past memories. The Sunshine Friends also promotes strong and loving intergenerational relationships and takes preschoolers on imaginative, fun-filled global adventures."
