Preschool Block for Cartoon Network Too

LONDON, August 14: Cartoon Network Too in the U.K. will
launch a preschool block, called Cartoonito,
on September 4, airing daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cartoon Network EMEA’s VP of programming, acquisitions and
presentation, Cecilia Persson, has already acquired a slate of properties for
the block, including Animal Stories, a
Collingwood O’Hare show from Foothill Entertainment; VGI Entertainment’s Blanche;
Southern Star’s Hi-5; HIT Entertainment’s Barney; CCI Entertainment’s Big Foot Presents:
Meteor and the Mighty Monster Trucks
;
Cartoon Network US/Animation Collective’s Ellen’s Acres; Fluffy Gardens from Monster Animation; Cookie Jar’s Caillou; Pororo the Little Penguin from Iconix Entertainment; Baby Looney
Tunes
from Warner Bros. Animation and Roobarb
and Custard Too
from Celador.

The block is also planning to roll out animated characters
introducing programs in English and French. “Our research shows French as the
second language most parents would choose for their children, and the addition
of French to Cartoonito’s offering is a
logical step forward in the provision of premier preschool entertainment,”
commented Dee Forbes, the SVP and general manager of Turner Broadcasting System
in the U.K. and Ireland. “We have high hopes of Cartoonito striking a chord with the nation’s parents as a
place where preschool children can be entertained in a fun, safe and
developmental environment.
Established hits like Barney
and Hi-5 will be key drivers, and
will sit well in this exciting range of high quality content.”
