Power Lines Up Big-Budget Dramas for MIPTV

LONDON: The Day of the Triffids, an adaptation of John Wyndham’s best-selling novel for BBC One starring Dougray Scott, Joely Richardson, Eddie Izzard, Brian Cox, Vanessa Redgrave and Jason Priestley, leads off Power’s lineup of big-budget dramas for MIPTV.

Also on the slate are the apocalyptic disaster feature film Ice; Puppet on a Chain, an adaptation of Alistair MacLean’s novel about war on drugs; El Cid an epic mini-series following the legendary exploits of El Cid as he leads his men through some of the most formidable battles of all time; and The Devil’s Mistress, a drama for Channel 4 featuring Andrea Riseborough, John Simm, Michael Fassbender and Dominic West.

Power is also presenting the 13-part drama series The Catch, following the exploits of an international crime-fighting organization of ex-cons; the 2-hour People’s Choice Awards; and the daytime soap As The World Turns.

“We are proud to bring a slate of high-end, quality drama to MIPTV this year, leading the industry into some of its most ambitious productions with stellar casts, fantastic writers and ground-breaking visual effects," said Power’s president of worldwide sales, Chris Philip.

Rounding out the slate are psychological thrillers like Out of Control and Reverse Angle, and, as part of its output deal with RHI Entertainment, there is Knights of Bloodsteel.
