Peacock Productions to Produce Doc on Face-Transplant Recipient

NEW YORK: Peacock Productions has signed an exclusive deal to tell the story of Charla Nash, a woman who was attacked by a 200-pound chimpanzee and had to undergo face-transplant surgery.

Peacock Productions will start working on the documentary this fall and is currently in discussions with several networks about airing the project.

Nash was attacked in February 2009. She sat down for an interview with the Today show in November of that year, and appeared on Oprah to reveal her face. Nash has worn a veil ever since the attack. Earlier this month, a press conference was held at Brigham and Women’s Hospital announcing that Nash had successfully undergone a face transplant.

"We were so pleased to hear that Ms. Nash’s surgery was a success and are honored to produce this documentary with her," said Sharon Scott, the executive VP and general manager of Peacock Productions. "We look forward to sharing her inspirational story of survival."
