Outright Secures New Deals in Asia

LONDON, November 21:
Outright Distribution has secured new deals in Asia for its finished
programming with BBC Worldwide and with 10 other channels in the region.

BBC Worldwide has licensed
a number of programs from Outright for China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand
and Taiwan. These include Enteraction TV’s 4×23-minute In Good Company and the first season of Ricochet’s Extreme
Dreams
for the BBC Knowledge
channel, and the 4×50-minute Wedding Belles for the BBC Lifestyle channel.

Aside from the BBC, the
6×30-minute Counter Culture,
produced by Moonbeam Films, has been sold to ATV World, a free-to-air channel
in Hong Kong and to True Visions (formerly known as UBC), a pay-TV channel in
Thailand.

Luxury Unveiled, also produced by Enteraction TV, has also been
sold to Singapore’s Mediacorp TV12, Hong Kong’s TVB, Japan’s Lala TV, South
Korea’s On Style, India’s Star, China’s Beijing TV and Shanghai TV and regional
broadcasters on SAGA timeslot. In addition the program has been acquired by
Indonesia’s MetroTV, Thailand’s True Visions, and Hong Kong’s TVB8 (pan-Asian
Mandarin language only).

Leonora Teale, the
territory manager for Asia, said: “We’re very excited about going to
ATF—our first time as Outright Distribution with our much enhanced and
dynamic catalogue. The success of our recent sales in Asia augur very well
indeed for future deals where the focus will be on developing our formats in
the region as well as finished program sales.”

Outright’s slate of
programming now consists of some 550 hours of
finished programming and 75 properties with format rights available. The
distributor sells on behalf of both its parent company Shed Group and
third-party producers.
