Nominees Announced for Rose d’Or Festival

LUCERNE/LONDON, February
28: At an event at the British Academy of Film and
Television Arts in London, the nominees were announced for the upcoming
48th edition of the Rose d’Or Festival, set for May 2 to 6 in
Lucerne, Switzerland.

From a record of 402
entered programs, 75 have been nominated to compete across eight categories,
with the winners being announced at the Award Ceremony in Lucerne on May 6. The
programs were entered by 181 companies across 34 countries, with the U.K.
leading the pack with 31 nominations.

In the Arts Documentary
category, J.K. Rowling—A Year in the Life (IWC Media, U.K.) will compete against Seven
Ages of Rock
(BBC, U.K.), The
Genius of Photography
(Wall to
Wall Television, U.K.) and Margaret Garner (LuFilms, France), as well as seven others.

Among the ten nominees for
comedy fare are Star Stories (Channel
4, U.K.), The Chaser’s War on Everything (ABC TV, Australia), Modern Toss (FremantleMedia Enterprises, U.K.) and Fonejacker
(Channel 4, U.K.).

Drama nominees include Jekyll
(Hartswood Films, U.K.), Secret
Diary of a Call Girl
(Tiger Aspect
Productions, U.K.), The Street II (Granada
Productions, U.K.) and LIFE
(NBC Universal TV Distribution, U.K.), among others, while Comedy Fight Club
(TV 2/Danmark, Denmark) and NewsKnight
with Sir Trevor McDonald
(Hat
Trick Productions, U.K.) are among the nominees in the Entertainment category.

Game shows scoring nods
include DNA (Distraction
Formats, Canada), Power of 10 (Sony
Pictures Television International, U.K.) and Who Dares Wins (BBC, U.K.), along with five others, and reality
fare up for the vote includes Deadline (Tiger Aspect Productions, U.K.) and Celebrity Shock (Eyeworks BV, Netherlands).

In the Performing Arts
category, Rolling Stones—The Biggest Bang (Done and Dusted/DCD Media, U.K.), Signing Off (Nederlandse Programma Stichting, Netherlands) and Body
Remix
(Amérimage-Spectra, Canada)
are among the nine nominees, while Gavin & Stacey (BBC, U.K.) and The IT Crowd (Channel 4, U.K.) will compete against seven others
in the Sitcom category.

Up for the special award
for Best Entertainer are Billie Piper for Secret Diary of a Call Girl (U.K.), Charlotte Church for The Charlotte
Church Show
(U.K.), James Nesbitt
for Jekyll (U.K.) and Mick
Jagger for Rolling Stones—The Biggest Bang (U.K.), among three others.
