Nick Lee to Lead Acquisitions at the BBC

The BBC has appointed Nick Lee, commercial director of scripted at BBC Studios, as its new head of acquisitions.

Lee, who previously also served as head of acquisitions at Channel 4, will lead acquisitions across the BBC—channels and iPlayer—for series (scripted and unscripted) and feature films. He succeeds Sue Deeks, who is transitioning into a three-day role as head of pre-buy acquisitions, beginning in November.

Dan McGolpin, director of iPlayer and channels at the BBC, commented: “Nick is a highly experienced dealmaker with a keen eye for spotting compelling TV from around the world, and I’m really excited that we’ll be getting the benefit of his great energy and know-how in leading the program acquisition team.”

Lee added: “This feels like a vocational calling for me… To be acquiring for the BBC, shaping the market with this team and working with the inimitable Sue Deeks is completely exhilarating.”
