Nick India Scores Casper

HYDERABAD: This November, Nick India will launch the 3-D animated series Casper, after acquiring the rights from DQ Entertainment (DQE).

DQE is co-producer on the show with Classic Media and MoonScoop and represents the rights for select territories in Asia. The 52×11-minute series is budgeted at $9.36 million, according to DQE. It has already rolled out on TF1.

 

"DQ Entertainment International and Nickelodeon Animation Studios have a longstanding relationship as production partners," said Anu Sikka, the associate VP of programming and scheduling at Nick India. "We are happy to now extend the association with DQ Entertainment International by acquiring this wonderful show for airing in the Indian region. The launch of Casper on Nick will further strengthen our existing rich line up of compelling content. "

Tapaas Chakravarti, the chairman and CEO of DQE, added: "We have grown up reading and watching the escapades of this friendly ghost and it is a privilege to now produce this series with Classic Media and Moonscoop for generation-next. DQE is pleased to be involved in the production of yet another iconic brand and we are grateful to Nickelodeon to play host to this lovable and friendly ghost on their network in some very important territories."

Nick India is operated by Viacom18, a joint venture of Viacom and India’s Network18 Group.
