NGCI Sets Live Broadcast for Flight Across English Channel

WASHINGTON D.C., May 16:
National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) has teamed up with Swiss
adventurer Yves Rossy and Cirrus Communications for a live broadcast of the
first-ever solo jet-propelled flight across the English Channel.

The flight, taking place
in September, will be shown live in 165 countries on National Geographic
Channel, and in the U.S. the footage will be incorporated into a show that will
air on the network the next day.

A camera will be mounted
on Rossy’s wing with a live microphone, and two helicopters will follow him as
he takes off in France and lands in the U.K. approximately 15 minutes later.
Viewers can also catch the action on the channel’s website at natgeotv.com.

“National Geographic has
spent the last 120 years supporting explorers and adventures who have scaled to
astonishing new heights, and to capture this history live is an incredible
opportunity for us,“ said Sydney Suissa, the executive VP of content for NGCI.
“Yves Rossy has devoted his life to constructing a way to soar through the sky;
National Geographic Channel is pleased to document this defining moment in the
next generation of aviation.”
