MUNICH: Peanuts Worldwide is teaming up with Normaal Animation and Télévisions for the creation of 500 new animated shorts based on Charles M. Schulz's iconic Peanuts characters.

The collection of 90-second shorts will be released for worldwide distribution next fall. Peanuts Worldwide is also planning to launch a new feature film from Twentieth Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios in November 2015. The Peanuts brand first appeared as a newspaper comic strip more than 60 years ago.

"Partnering with a dynamic production house such as Normaal Animation and a leading broadcaster like France Televisions, is a key step in our strategy to build all new content based on the characters and storylines by Charles Schulz," said Neil Cole, the chairman and CEO of Iconix Brand Group, which owns a major interest in Peanuts Worldwide. "The new collection and format will also provide us with the opportunity to continually keep the characters in front of new generations of Peanuts fans."
