New Law & Order Episodes May Move to TNT

NEW YORK, May 9: The cable network TNT may be the new home
for Dick Wolf’s long-running legal drama Law & Order, reports indicate, should NBC decide not to renew
the show.

The New York Times
reports that the series could move to TNT in its 18th season. The
Turner Broadcasting System-owned cable network has built much of its schedule
around airing past seasons of the show. A decision could be made within the
next few days; NBC is set to announce its 2007-2008 schedule on Monday. While Law
& Order: SVU
has already been picked up
for next season, the future of the original series in the franchise and the
third spin-off, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, remains in doubt. NBC is said to be paying $4
million per episode of the original Law & Order, and the price remains a point of contention in
negotiations between the network and Wolf. Furthermore, ratings for the show
have slipped for the past few seasons.
