New Exec for MDA, Singapore Film Commission

SINGAPORE, March 19: The
Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) has appointed Kenneth Tan as its
COO, as well as the director of the Singapore Film Commission (SFC), effective
May 2.

As COO, Tan will oversee
MDA’s efforts in ensuring that it continues to provide its partners and clients
with services geared towards operational excellence.

In his role as director of
the SFC, he replaces outgoing director Man Shu Sum. He will simultaneously
continue in his role as the chairman of the Singapore Film Society.

Tan formerly served as the
managing director of Golden Village Singapore, where he provided several
independent local feature productions with opportunities for commercial release
at Golden Village cinemas.

"We're very pleased
to welcome Kenneth on board,” said Dr. Christopher Chia, the CEO of MDA. “His arrival will help us accelerate the pace of our
industry development and promotion efforts regionally and internationally, and
help groom our creative talents to make a mark in our budding filmmaking
industry. His rich industry experience and strong business ties will improve
the reach and relevance of Made-by-Singapore media content, products and
services for local and international audiences and provide greater impetus in
our drive to make Singapore the media gateway between Asia and the world.”

Tan commented: “I am honored
and excited to become part of the MDA vision and team at this significant
juncture of Singapore’s development as a media hub. I look forward to drawing
upon my industry experience and passion to add as much value as I can to our
concerted national effort to etch Singapore’s place on the world media map even
more deeply.”
