New CFO in Place at Turner EMEA

LONDON: Jamie Friend has been promoted to the role of chief financial officer at Turner Broadcasting System Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), effective November 1.

Friend currently serves as VP of corporate strategy and insights, and in his new role, he will be responsible for the company’s portfolio of kids, news and general entertainment brands, including Cartoon Network, Boomerang, CNN International, TNT, TruTV and TCM. Friend will be based in London and report to Aksel van der Wal, the CFO of international. Friend will also assist Giorgio Stock, the president of Turner Broadcasting System EMEA, as part of his EMEA management team.

van der Wal stated: “Jamie’s wealth of industry knowledge, M&A experience and strategic insight make him the perfect fit for this role. His astute business expertise and innovative thinking are a powerful combination in the fast-changing media landscape.”

Prior to joining Turner in October 2013, Friend worked at Arqiva, where he served as head of strategy for digital platforms. He has also held senior strategy and business development roles at several other firms, The Walt Disney Company among them.
