New Asian Distribution VP at MTVNI

SINGAPORE: Chris Keely is to take up the post of VP of distribution for Southeast Asia and Greater China at MTV Networks International as of September 1.

Keely will report directly to Indra Suharjono, the executive VP and managing director for MTV Networks Southeast Asia and Greater China. Keely will be responsible for seeking new distribution opportunities for assets such as MTV, Nickelodeon, VH1 and other Viacom-owned brands throughout the region. He will work to maximize distribution across the region, particularly in markets such as Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. In addition to distribution, Keely will also manage the company’s local government relationships in key markets.

Previously, Keely held senior roles across broadcasting, politics and law in Australia and New Zealand, including serving as general manager of MTV Networks NZ, director of strategy and business development for MTV Networks Australia, general manager of SingTel Optus Television Business Affairs and general manager for The Movie Network.

“Chris is the ideal candidate to move our distribution forward and expand our relationships with various business partners and local governments,” said Suharjono. “He has the right mix of business acumen and political know-how to strengthen our brands and with his exceptional success within MTV Networks in New Zealand and Australia, I’m confident that he’ll be able to drive our distribution growth momentum forward.”

Dave Sibley, the managing director of MTV Networks Australia and New Zealand, commented: “Chris leaves our MTV Networks New Zealand operation in great shape. Over the last three years he has built a portfolio of strongly performing TV brands and we are now SKY TV’s largest local channel provider. Chris’s background in business development and his extensive experience in the subscription TV arena make him perfect for this new role. We’re sorry to see Chris leave the continent but delighted he remains part of the MTV Networks family.”
