NBCU Taps Former Disney Exec for Asia Channel Expansion

LONDON/SINGAPORE,
September 11: Raymund Miranda has been appointed to the role of managing
director of global networks for Asia at NBC Universal, effective November 1.

Based in Singapore,
Miranda will be responsible for launching the commercial operations for the
global networks division in Asia and for building NBC Universal’s channel
relationships in the region.

Prior to this role,
Miranda most recently served as president and CEO of the National Broadcasting
Network and as managing director of mobile TV for 360media Corp, based in the
Philippines. He has also held senior positions within The Walt Disney Company
in the region, including as managing director of Walt Disney Television
International for Southeast Asia/Korea.

NBC Universal’s recent
announcement of the proposed acquisition of Sparrowhawk Media provides an
established channel operation and team of local executives in Asia. Upon
completion of the deal, this team will be merged with NBC Universal’s global
channels staff.

Roma Khanna, the president
of global networks and digital initiatives, commented, “Asia is a very
important area of focus for the development of NBCU International. Raymund’s
new role is important to the ongoing global expansion of our international
channels, which is a high priority growth initiative for NBC Universal.”
