NBC Universal Profit Drops

NEW YORK, July 14: For the second quarter of this year, NBC
Universal’s profits fell 10 percent from $979 million to $882 million, on
revenues of $3.86 billion.

For the first half of the year, meanwhile, revenues rose to
$8.34 billion but segment profit still fell 9 percent to $1.5 billion.

NBC Universal was the only division of General Electric that
did not deliver double-digit earnings growth in the quarter. GE’s revenues for
the period were up 9 percent to $39.9 billion.

GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt said of NBC Universal’s
results for the quarter: "We are making good progress at NBC Universal,
which continues to improve with increasing ratings and a diversified business
model of content leveraged across all delivery platforms.”
