NBC to Air Poker-Themed Game Show in Prime Time

UNIVERSAL CITY: Face the Ace, in which qualifiers compete against world-class poker pros for a shot at $1 million, will debut on NBC on August 1 at 9 p.m.

Steve Schirripa (The Sopranos) hosts the new poker-themed game show, which premieres with back-to-back Saturday prime-time airings. Contestants will have the opportunity to play against as many as three different top professional poker players. In the first round, the contestant selects a pro from behind a set of smoked-glass doors, and will play heads-up no limit hold’em for $40,000. If the contestant wins, they can keep that amount or challenge a different pro for $200,000. The more the contestant continues to win, the higher the stakes get. The final pot is worth $1 million, but if the contestant loses at any point, they walk away with nothing. For the pros, each match they win they secure $10,000 for the charity of their choice .

Face the Ace is produced by Poker PROductions, which also produces Poker After Dark for NBC.
