MySpace Launches New Celebrity-Based Content Channel

LOS ANGELES, January 10: The social networking site MySpace
will roll out a new online content channel, titled MySpace Celebrity, where
fans can interact with their favorite stars and receive current news, photos,
blogs and video updates centered on celebrities.

MySpace Celebrity has unveiled more than 300 official
celebrity MySpace profiles already in place, including actors like Tom Hanks, Vince
Vaughn and Zach Braff; actresses such as Hayden Panettiere, plus musicians,
athletes, comedians and socialites. The channel provides fans with the
opportunity to send their favorite celebrities messages, post comments to
profile pages and share celebrity videos.

The channel will also feature areas such as Celebrity
Impact, which will feature celebrity-endorsed charities, including interviews
and photos with the affiliated celebrity; Featured Icon, where stars can discuss
their current projects, share photos and blogs; and Rising Star, where
up-and-coming talent can showcase their projects. Other celebrity-dedicated
content areas on the channel include Behind The Scenes, Exclusive Videos,
Celebrity Blog, Celebrity Q&A, Celebrity News and Celebrity Photos.

At launch, content included interviews, blogs, videos and
photos from celebrities like Balthazar Getty, Elijah Wood, Ellen Page, Jenna
Fischer, Kim Kardashian and Matthew McConaughey.

“MySpace Celebrity is Hollywood’s new home page,” said
MySpace’s president and co-founder, Tom Anderson. “Celebrities have been using
MySpace since the site’s launch and it’s a natural extension for us to now
offer them an aggregated channel where they can be in control of their own image.
We want MySpace users to connect with celebrities in the same way that they do
with musicians.”
