MTVNI Shores Up Nickelodeon Sales

LONDON: MTV Networks International (MTVNI) has secured a range of sales for Nickelodeon programs across Asia, Europe and Latin America.

Avatar is set to broadcast on Hong Kong’s TVB channel. The series has already been picked up by ATV. This marks the first time ever that a show has aired on both of the territory’s only free-to-air broadcasters.

Fox in Portugal has picked up seasons one and two of The Ren and Stimpy Show, while Norway’s NRK has licensed the hit preschool property Dora the Explorer. Canal+ in France took on Back at the Barnyard for the first time and Television 3 has picked up Tak & the Power of Juju.

MTVNI signed an HD deal for the live-action hit show iCarly, with seasons one and two going to Brazil’s Globo TV. Also in Latin America, deals for Nickelodeon branded blocks have been closed with Ecuador’s Teleamazonas and Antena Latina in the Dominican Republic. The agreements will see series such as Back at the Barnyard, Fairly Odd Parents, Drake & Josh and SpongeBob SquarePants broadcasting in these territories. A new package deal has been inked with Teletica in Costa Rica that sees programs such as the preschool hit Ni Hai Kai-Lan and Mighty B! airing for the first time.
