More 4 Bags Southland

LONDON/BURBANK: Channel 4’s More 4 digital network has scored the British broadcast rights to John Wells’ new NBC cop drama Southland from Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.

Slated to premiere on More 4 later this year, Southland, which is returning to NBC for a second season this fall, comes from Wells and producers Ann Biderman and Christopher Chulack. It focuses on a police unit in Los Angeles.

Gill Hay, the head of acquisitions at Channel 4, stated: “Our audience expects thought-provoking, high-quality drama, and Southland comes to More 4 with a sterling pedigree. As you would expect from the creative talent involved, it is gripping, uncompromising and a truly thrilling addition to the channel.”

Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, the president of Warner Bros. International Television, added: “Southland follows in the great tradition of highly successful programming from Emmy-winning producer John Wells and his creative collaborators. ER and The West Wing were both long-running hits in the U.K. on Channel 4 and More 4, and we are confident that Southland delivers the dramatic and riveting storylines that the More 4 audience expects.”
