MIPTV to Spotlight China

PARIS: China’s State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television (SARFT) Vice Minister Tian Jin will lead a Chinese industry delegation at a series of "Focus on China" events and private receptions held at MIPTV on March 31. 

SARFT will focus on encouraging international companies to engage in more factual co-productions with Chinese organizations at a dedicated seminar on "Cooperation between China and Other Countries in Television Programmes." Additionally, the China United  Pavilion at MIPTV will bring together China International TV Corp,  CTV Media, Hunan Satellite TV, Hangzhou International  Animation Festival, Capital Radio & TV Producers  Association and Zhejiang Huace Film and TV, among others, to showcase new productions, including the documentary Dun Huang: Pearl on the Silk Road, TV drama The Legend of Bruce Lee and animation series The Monkey King.

Tian Jin commented: "Despite the global economic crisis, China’s economy remains relatively vibrant. Our major aim in attending MIPTV is to develop television program exchanges and co-operation with other countries, to promote mutual understanding and  friendship between China and the world." 

Paul Johnson, the outgoing director of the television division at Reed MIDEM, added, "One of the most dynamic countries in the world, China is the largest global market for both television and broadband access. The ‘Focus on  China’ events led by SARFT will explore the mutual benefits of  trade between the international and Chinese markets."
