CANNES: Some 13,500 delegates, including 4,623 acquisition executives, were in attendance at MIPCOM, which wrapped in Cannes today on an upbeat note.

“Increasing links between film and television and the new opportunities provided by the online platforms and channels and the great names who have been in Cannes this week have made for a memorable MIPCOM,” said Laurine Garaude, director of the television division at Reed MIDEM.

Highlights of the week included a keynote by DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, MIPCOM 2013 Personality of the Year. "I don’t think there’s ever been a time filled with so much new and unique opportunity for the world of television,” he said in his address. “By almost every single measure, traditional television viewing has not only remained robust, but has continued to expand.”

Katzenberg is particularly bullish about digital opportunities, a sentiment that pervaded the market; indeed, of the 4,600-plus buyers on site, more than 1,000 hailed from digital services.
