MGM’s Sports Action Team Cleared For Fall Syndication Launch

LOS ANGELES, May 22: MGM Domestic Television Distribution
has secured a national fall syndication launch for its half-hour improv comedy
series Sports Action Team, which has
cleared all ten NBC-owned and operating stations in the U.S.

The ten NBC-owned and operated stations represent 30 percent
of the country. Last season Sports Action Team aired on several NBC stations following the network’s Sunday night
telecasts of NFL games. NBC stations have the series exclusively for broadcast
syndication. The second season of Sports Action Team will premiere on HDNet this fall and will also be
available for syndication.

In addition, the series will also appear online with
webisodes on the NBC station group websites. MGM will be the exclusive advertising
representative for the syndicated show and will also handle the ad space for
each webisode. For the series, MGM will also be representing international
markets as well as formats.

Created by Chicago-based television production company
Towers Productions in association with NBC-owned Chicago station WMAQ, the
17×30-minute Sports Action Team is a
semi-scripted series that follows the antics of a hapless team of sports
reporters who cover the national sports beat. Each week, in their bid to reach
the pinnacle of sports broadcasting, the team interacts with real-world pro and
amateur athletes, managers, sports enthusiasts and celebrities. This includes
Oakland Raiders Wide receiver Randy Moss, Late Night host Conan O’Brien, Pro
football Hall of Fame coach Mike Ditka, boxing impresario Don King and more.
