MGM, Hyde Park Entertainment Team for Remake of Thriller

LOS ANGELES, June 7: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios
Inc. (MGM) has partnered with Hyde Park Entertainment for the remake of the
controversial 1980 suspense thriller Dressed to Kill.

The move is part of MGM’s recently announced
strategy for its newly forged home entertainment production unit. MGM plans to
release 12 or more projects per year, primarily based on popular film and
television franchises with wide appeal for young adult entertainment consumers.

Hyde Park Entertainment has also recently formed a
unit for the production of consumer direct movies. Producer Patrick Aiello,
Hyde Park's senior executive of development and production, initiated the
remake of Dressed to Kill and
will head Hyde Park Entertainment's new consumer direct division. Aiello will
work closely with MGM's newly installed home entertainment VP Jason Weiss, who
will oversee the production on the Dressed to Kill remake for the studio.

Rick Alexander, who recently scripted the graphic
novel-based sci-fi thriller Subatomic for the two companies and is producing a remake of Conan, The
Barbarian
for Warner Bros., has
signed on to write the script for the new version of Dressed to Kill. He has hinted that his “reimagining” of the
thriller will address elements of a cultural obsession with interactive, online
entertainment media. Dressed to Kill was originally
released in 1980 by Filmways, which was later acquired by Orion and ultimately
MGM. It was written and directed by Brian DePalma.

"We're very excited to be extending our
business with Ashok and Patrick,” said Weiss. “Rick’s take on how to update Dressed
to Kill
is really fresh and fits
in perfectly with our mandate to produce quality, commercial product that will
help us capitalize on the lucrative home entertainment market.”

Hyde Park Entertainment
also has a five-year co-financing agreement with Twentieth Century Fox, which
is also the exclusive distributor for MGM’s consumer direct projects.
