MGM Channel Cracks Italian Market

MILAN/LOS ANGELES, May 20:
MGM Networks has signed a deal to launch a local-language version of its MGM
Channel on SKY Italia, effective June, marking the service’s launch into the
Italian market.

The channel will be
included in SKY Italia’s Cinema package, which reaches the majority of the
platform’s subscribers. Dubbed into Italian, the channel will feature a
selection of titles from the MGM library, including releases from the Rocky and Pink Panther franchises, as well as Thelma & Louise, Annie Hall and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, among others.

Bruce Tuchman, the
executive VP of MGM Networks, commented: “This deal represents a significant
milestone in our success across Europe. Italy is one of the key European
markets that remained untapped for us, and now with this deal, we add an
incredible jewel to our crown of channels in Europe.”

MGM Channel, launched in
Europe in 2002, today reaches more than 30 countries in the region, in addition
to carriage across Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific.
