MGEITF Unveils Channel of the Year Shortlist

LONDON, June 18: UKTV Gold, Sky One, BBC Three, BBC Four,
More4 and ITV2 are all up for the Non-Terrestrial Channel of the Year award at
the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International TV Festival, while all five
terrestrials are up for the Terrestrial Channel of the Year category.

The awards will be presented on August 25 during an event
that will be hosted by Lauren Laverne. The shortlists were culled following an
online poll conducted by YouGov, which invited members of the public to vote on
criteria such as programming, commercial success, innovation, successful
targeting and channel branding. The shortlist will now be judged by the MGEITF
Executive Chair and Executive Committee members.

The BBC has dominated the Non-Terrestrial category for the
past two years with BBC Four and BBC Three taking the honors in 2006 and 2005,
respectively. The 2006 Terrestrial award was won by Channel 4.
