MediaFLO to Trial Mobile TV Services in Taiwan

SAN DIEGO/TAIPEI, March 5: QUALCOMM Incorporated is set to
trial its MediaFLO mobile TV technology in Taiwan, working with cable platform
China Network Systems (CNS) and the commercial broadcasting group Taiwan
Television Enterprise (TTV).

Expected to begin this month, the technical trial will
feature four live channels of CNS content and up to three live channels of TTV
content.

"Taiwan is at the forefront of new technology
deployments, and mobile TV is no exception," said Daniel Cheung, the COO
of CNS. "We are excited about MediaFLO and the opportunity for delivering
advanced video services to our customers in Taiwan. We will use the trial to
evaluate our business model for building a mobile broadcasting platform in
Taiwan and to better understand how to migrate the platform to a commercial
service."

MediaFLO technology claims to offer higher-quality video and
audio, faster channel switching time, superior mobile reception, optimized
power consumption and greater channel capacity, than other mobile broadcasting
technologies.

MediaFLO’s mobile TV offering is already being rolled out in
the U.S. with Verizon Wireless, and AT&T/Cingular will make the service
available to its subscribers later this year.

"We see the trial as an excellent opportunity to expand
our MediaFLO business development efforts in Asia," commented Peggy
Johnson, the president of QUALCOMM Internet Services and MediaFLO
Technologies. "Taiwan is one
of the key markets in the region with 84 percent pay-TV penetration. We expect
this trial to provide a strong validation of the value that QUALCOMM believes
MediaFLO technology offers both in Asia and in other markets around the
world."
