LOS ANGELES: The latest season in the Power Rangers franchise has secured slots on Nickelodeon and TELETOON in Canada ahead of its U.S. debut next week.

MarVista Entertainment has licensed Power Rangers Samurai to Corus Entertainment and TELETOON Canada. The Saban Brands show, which makes its debut on Nickelodeon U.S. on Monday, will begin running on Nickelodeon Canada next Friday before rolling out to TELETOON’s French service later this spring. Cable television rights to select classic Power Rangers episodes have also been acquired by TELETOON Canada for broadcast on TELETOON Retro English and TELETOON Retro French.

“A new generation of children around the world will soon be introduced to the legendary Power Rangers brand,” commented Fernando Szew, CEO of MarVista. “The new series, Power Rangers Samurai, brings all the elements that made the original a global phenomenon—a combination of comedy and high-octane action, martial arts and special effects—and we look forward to working with Corus, TELETOON and our other international partners to make this season the most successful ever.”
