CANNES: MarVista Entertainment and Nickelodeon have inked a deal on the TV rights for Power Rangers Samurai across the world.

The deal includes key European territories, including Germany, the Benelux, the U.K. and Ireland; throughout Latin America; and in Australia and New Zealand. According to the terms of the agreement, Nickelodeon has acquired all TV rights to the 40 new Power Rangers Samurai episodes for Germany, Holland and Flemish-speaking Belgium, and pay-TV rights for all other territories. Nickelodeon will begin airing the series in May.

The action series debuted on Nickelodeon in the U.S. on February 7 and ranked number one with boys 2 to 11 and 6 to 11 in its timeslot across all TV.

Fernando Szew, the CEO of MarVista Entertainment, said: “Power Rangers Samurai is already a proven hit on Nickelodeon in the U.S., and naturally, both MarVista and Saban Brands are deeply gratified to expand the relationship with Nickelodeon to deliver the series to existing and new fans across the globe via Nickelodeon’s expanding international presence in key territories. Power Rangers Samurai is sure to delight audiences with its fresh new look, and with a focus on empowering kids to believe that they have it within themselves to be extraordinary, to make good choices, and to help others.”
